March 23, 2026
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto addressed the following points during this week’s flag-raising ceremony:
00:01-01:03: Mayor Vico acknowledged the presence of City officials, personnel from both the local and national government agencies (NGAs), as well as guests from the Department of Education Schools Division Office (SDO)-Pasig, led by Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Romela M. Cruz.
00:29-01:03: Performance of Pasig City Delegation in Various Regional Activities
• He congratulated the entire Pasig delegation for their remarkable performance in the various competitions: Regional Festival of Talents, Regional Schools Press Conference, and Palarong Panrehiyon (NRC Palaro). Addressing SDO-Pasig, Mayor Vico emphasized that reading among students should still remain a top priority over extra-curricular activities.
01:04-01:23: Turnover of Electric Mini-Buses for Libreng Sakay Program
• Mayor Vico then talked about the turnover ceremony of five electric mini-buses for the Libreng Sakay Program, happening immediately after the flag-raising ceremony. Citing recent fuel price hikes, Mayor Vico deemed the project timely in response to public needs.
01:24-02:40: DSWD Cash Relief Assistance (Fuel Subsidy)
• Regarding the PHP5,000 fuel subsidy for the transport sector, under the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation, Mayor Vico assured that the rollout is still ongoing in Pasig City, particularly in response to tricycle drivers who have been inquiring about their subsidy.
• He added that the City Government of Pasig continues to ensure that qualified beneficiaries are properly enlisted to receive the financial assistance.
• As the program is led by the national government, Mayor Vico explained the importance of efficient coordination among the City Government of Pasig (through the Tricycle Operation and Regulatory Office, City Social Welfare and Development Office, Traffic and Parking Management Office, City Transportation Development and Management Office, and Cooperative Development Office), DSWD, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, and other involved agencies.
• He then again discouraged people from trying to get fuel subsidy from two or more local government units, as this will only prolong the process, given that DSWD is also conducting de-deplucation and cleansing of the beneficiaries list.
02:41-03:36: Local Infrastructure Projects
• Mayor Vico then thanked the City Engineering Office for hosting the ceremony and commended the office for its significant progress in terms of implementing the local infrastructure projects, especially large-scale ones.
• He further stated that the City is now redirecting its focus to smaller-scale projects, especially in improving its design and the coordination with other agencies such as the Department of Public Works and Highways.
03:37-03:43: Mayor Vico extended his thanks and greetings to everyone present during the ceremony.
